02/01/2009 - New features in version 2009 (v9.0)
- IDEAL Administration now manages Windows SQL Server and stores database inventories directly on this type of servers. To do this, you must create an SQL server user data source using the ODBC data source administrator and configure it in IDEAL Administration: Tools menu, Options..., Database
- Inventory in WMI Classes database. This function makes it possible to obtain all hardware and software information (video, serial number, CPU, physical memory, network configuration, patches installed, etc.) in a database, regardless of the operating system. Inventory menu, WMI

- IDEAL Administration and IDEAL Directory have been modified to gain speed
- A new digital certificate has been integrated. A digital certificate ensures that the software comes from a software publisher and protects the software against any modification after his publication. To verify the certificate, display the IA_Setup_En.exe file properties, tab Digital signatures

- Taking remote control for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
  IMPORTANT: TightVNC's remote control is only possible if a session is opened on the remote station or server. We hope provide a fully compatible version in few weeks.

- Automatic execution of predefined commands using the remote command prompt.
  You can run scripts or DOS commands on all PCs in the network.
  Examples: IPConfig /all, IPConfig /Release, Tracert %computername%.
  To do this, select the PC(s) concerned, right-click with the mouse and choose the Command Prompt Tools item.
  You can define your own commands using the Tools menu, Options..., Command Prompt Tools tab.
- Display tooltips by hovering the cursor over certain buttons.
  You can disable this option using the Tools menu, Options..., General tab, Display Tooltips item.

- Automatic control for the new product versions. You can configure this option by the menu File, Configuration, New versions. You can also manually verify if a new version is available or not by the menu ?, Verify if new version...
- Filter creation for domain computer displaying based on operating system, Organizational Unit, or computer name. To configure, create, or remove the filters: click on the icon (toolbar).
- Execute the Win32_NetworkAdapterConfigurer WMI Class on several computers. This function allows you to modify the network properties on several computers at once: Network Mask, WINS server, etc. To use this option, right click on computer, WMI Properties, and select the Win32_NetworkAdapterConfigurer class.
- IDEAL Directory : MS-DOS Command Prompt on remote stations. Right click on computer, and then Command Prompt.

18/12/2007 - New features in version 2008 (v8.0)
- Remote Command Prompt. It is now possible to run the MS-DOS command prompt on remote computers, by right-clicking on the computer, then selecting Command Prompt. When logging in, you can configure the user account as well as the default directory: File menu > Configuration > Command Prompt.
- Domain computer filtering based on operating system, Organizational Unit, or computer name. This function allows you, for example, a right view list of only the servers and workstations in a particular Organizational Unit. These filters can be configured by domain and are saved on exiting the program. To configure the filters: click on the icon (right view).
- Management of WMI Methods that allow the modification and reading of WMI Classes. Now you can rename a PC remotely, change the network configuration, create a process, etc. To do this, select the WMI Properties of a PC, right-click on a property of the list, and choose whichever method you prefer.
- Display of the NetBIOS Comment, Active Directory Comment and Role properties on the left and right views. You can change the display order of these new properties by using the File > Configuration > Displayed Properties tab. They are displayed by default at the end of the list.
- Username and password stored for the Connect As... item.
- Use of a new WMI class to retrieve the serial number of the remote workstations.

- New management of access to domains, servers and workstations by independent processes. This new management remarkably accelerates network connections, as well as data processing.
- Computer help on the left view. Information, including comments, type of OS, video configuration, type of hardware, physical memory, serial number, IP addresses, etc., are automatically displayed when you move the mouse over the computer name. You can configure the information that is displayed, as well as the display order by using the File -> Configuration -> Displayed Properties menu item.
- Computer information on the right view. As with the left-hand view, you can configure the information to be displayed, as well as the display order by using the File -> Configuration -> Displayed Properties menu item.

IDEAL Administration 7.0 is now ready for Windows Vista, the new Microsoft's Operating System.

We have tested IDEAL Administration, with the help of several customers using the latest Vista version in their company, and all the tests were concluding!

28/09/2006 - New features in version 7.0
IDEAL Administration 7.0 manages the installation and running of software and scripts on network servers and client workstations.

You can remotely install Windows patches, run scripts or update software on all the servers and client workstations in your network.

This description makes you think of IDEAL Dispatch's description, and you are right, we have added a 50 user's IDEAL Dispatch license to IDEAL Administration, without any supplement of cost!

This version 7.0 also includes a new Active Directory management for the organizational units and users, a new XP interface if this one is configured, the DEP protection verification for the Windows 2003 Server SP1 before process the user password migration, and some other improvements which are listed below.
- Computer list
  - New management to obtain the computer list in an Active Directory environment. This corrects the workstation computers listed as servers.
- Distribution
  - Installation and running of software and scripts on network servers and client workstations. Menu Distribution.
- Migration
  - Detection of DEP protection on Windows 2003 Server SP1 in order to suspend the migration of the user passwords if this one is activated. The migration of the user passwords can be done but needs to change the default configuration of the server. The software
    provides all the modifications to be carried out on the server.
- Tasks
  - Export in CSV file of the listed tasks. Button Export.
- IDEAL Directory
  - New Active Directory management for the organizational units and user accounts.
  - User password reset using the right click on the user.
  - IDEAL Directory can be executed independently without IDEAL Administration: menu Start, All programs, Pointdev, IDEAL Administration, IDEAL Directory
- XP version
  - All the graphics interface of IDEAL Administration have been modified to adopt the XP look if this one is activated on the administration station: menus, dialog boxes, etc.

18/03/2006 - New features in version 6.7
IDEAL Administration 6.7 integrates the transfer of files and directories, as well as their access permissions (ACL), to all kinds of Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 servers and Windows 2008 servers.

This new functionality completes the migration functions already present in IDEAL Administration.

You can now transfer permissions keeping them as they are, making an automatic transfer, or a transfer under rules.

Automatic transfer:
When importing, IDEAL Administration searches for objects in the access permissions (Organizational Units, Computers, User Groups and Users) on the target computer.

Transfer under rules:
You define where IDEAL Administration must search for objects, based on the location(s) in the source domain(s).

Version 6.7 also includes new Active Directory management of Computer and User group objects.

IDEAL Administration 6.5 includes a task manager.

The task manager allows you to store databases of information about the computers on your network.

You can interrogate the database in order to get a complete, accurate log of the tasks done or to do on one or more computers.

The database is interrogated using a multi-criteria form, making it more flexible to use.

The task manager allows you to have an accurate log of the interventions carried out or to be carried out on the computers in your network. It may also be used, for example, to store changes in hardware or software made on them.

You can also set up alerts in order to get an automatic warning of the tasks to be done.
